In business and management, analytics has arisen as a method for less experienced managers to make decisions similar to an experience-based approach.

How close is too close? The issue of personal space and boundaries is a delicate one. The issue of personal space is culture specific.

Americans require a great deal of personal space whereas individuals from Latin countries are more comfortable standing close to others as they interact.  Where did all of this originate?

According to recent studies, a college degree is:

  • A Good Investment – Statistics show 75% of future position are expected to require certification, licensure, or a bachelor’s degree.
  • A Necessity – Many adults find a college degree is a necessity to enter their career choice or advancement in their professional field.
  • Essential – Many adults are experiencing advancing technologies, employment conditions and changing economics making it essential to update or develop their knowledge and skills to remain competitive.

In July 2015, the first drone delivery took place in the United States. This joint effort between NASA, the University of Virginia, and an Australian drone manufacturing company made a delivery of pharmaceuticals to a free clinic in Virginia. This historic delivery marks the beginning of a world filled with the conveniences that drones will bring.

As great as this advancement with drones is, the United States is well behind many other industrialized nations. In fact, Switzerland has already started using drones for mail delivery. The U.S. Postal Service is seriously considering using drones, but nothing has been decided yet.

How far do you go in recruiting new employees? One of my business clients is an elite hair salon in Atlanta that serves celebrities and top women executives. I have worked with the owner, Tom, since he started planning the business 10 years ago and he has done a fabulous job building the reputation of his salon. He had the foresight to move into an up-and-coming area and quickly established his reputation.

The salon recently had three new customers who all wanted appointments on the same day at the same time. It took quite a bit to accommodate this request, but Tom is committed to customer service and to meeting customers’ needs and he was able to get two of his stylists to come in on their day off.
