New Standards for the Dean’s List and President’s List

By Amy Everson
Director, Student and Alumni Affairs

Success in online education requires both commitment and discipline. Our online students must not only balance the various challenges of their courses, but may also be working full time. In addition, some are being deployed overseas, responding to natural disasters or caring for their families.

New Dean’s List Standards

Each quarter, American Public University System (APUS) recognizes outstanding students who have both met and exceeded our academic standards by including them on the Dean’s List.

Beginning with the fourth quarter publication of the 2021 Dean’s List on January 1, 2022, our academic leadership has approved these standards for the Dean’s List:

  • Earn a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.70 or higher
  • Be enrolled in an associate, bachelor’s or master’s degree academic program
  • Begin and complete four classes (12 semester hours) in an academic program at the undergraduate level or two classes (six semester hours) at the master’s level
  • Begin and complete three classes at the associate or bachelor’s level or two classes at the master’s level six months prior to publication
  • Comply with university policies on academic integrity in all classes, assignments and interactions

New President’s List Standards

Some of our students demonstrate particularly noteworthy effort in achieving their educational goals. We are proud to award these outstanding students our highest academic honor: the President’s List.

Starting with the fourth quarter publication of the 2021 President’s List on January 1, 2022, our academic leaders have set these standards for the President’s List:

  • Earn a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4.00
  • Be enrolled in an associate, bachelor’s or master’s degree academic program
  • Begin and complete four classes (12 semester hours) in an academic program at the undergraduate level or two classes (six semester hours) at the master’s level
  • Begin and complete three classes at the associate or bachelor’s level or two classes at the master’s level six months prior to publication
  • Comply with university policies on academic integrity in all classes, assignments and interactions

When Are the Dean’s List and President’s List Published?

The Dean’s List and the President’s List are published quarterly on the following dates:
