Trends in Human Resources: The Certification Process

Interview with Dr. Marie Harper, Pamela Harding, and Dr. Christopher DeClerk

Dr. Christopher DeClerk is a faculty member at American Public University.

In the past couple of years there have been a number of changes in the field of human resources. To stay on par with other professionals within the field is crucial to success. One of the components to that success is certification. To talk about the proposed changes to the certification process are three professionals from the field. Dr. Harper also discusses the recent changes at SHRM and HRCI.

About the Speakers

Dr. Marie Gould Harper is the Program Director, Management at APU, and is a progressive Organizational Development professional with more than 30 years of leadership, project management, and administrative experience. She is considered to be an innovative thinker and has dedicated her life to assisting individuals reach their full potential.

Pamela Harding is from Next Dimension Media, the owner of Linked:HR with 925,000 members.  She has over 25 years of experience in HR and has an absolute passion for Social Media.  She has worked in public and private sectors, for-profit and not. The array of industries Pamela has worked in include, military, government, aviation, transportation, hospitality, technology, and healthcare.

Dr. Christopher DeClerk is a Human Resource professional with over 20 years in the field. He is the Director of Total Rewards for an employee-owned global company and is also an adjunct faculty member at American Public University. He earned the Senior Professional of Human Resources (SPHR) certification from the HR Certification Institute and is a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) and certified Global Remunerations Professional (GRP) from World at Work. He lives in New Hampshire with his family.
