September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. To educate students, alumni, staff and faculty about suicide prevention, the American Public University System (APUS) chapter of Active Minds will hold a two-day online symposium on Wednesday, September 26 and Thursday, September 27 through Adobe Connect. The symposium will feature presentations by several speakers, including APUS faculty members, about different aspects of suicide prevention, mental health and supporting survivors of a suicide loss.

What Is Active Minds?

Active Minds is a nationwide student organization that encourages students to speak freely about mental health in order to educate others and to encourage them to seek help when they need it. The organization increases awareness of mental health issues and the symptoms related to mental disorders. Active Minds also provides mental health resources for the university community as well as networking and collaboration opportunities.
