Spell Check Is NOT Your Friend: Proofread Your Resume

Yes, spell check can be awesome and super useful, BUT it is not your friend. It doesn’t check for nuances, or grammatical misuse. Make sure you proofread your resume before you even think about sending it out.

Have a friend or significant other around? Here’s their chance to be editor for the morning or afternoon. Having someone objectively review your resume,  before the employer does, can limit the amount of mistakes and pinpoint things your resume could be lacking. Your resume should be a representation of your best foot forward, and any kind of typo will look like a huge pimple to the person reviewing it. Don’t take yourself out of the running because you used the wrong tense of “to”.
