As an online student, you are faced with many challenges. But no challenge is more problematic to your academic career than the demands on your time. Effective time management skills are in high demand and essential to your success.
Here are three mobile apps that can help you make the most of your time, as well as make your life a lot easier on your path to graduation. Best of all, all three of these mobile apps are free and available through sites such as the Mac App Store or Google Play.
In addition to your textbook readings, you most likely have additional reading material, such as lecture notes, journals and informational websites. The Kindle app serves as an e-reader. You can convert any Word or PowerPoint document into a PDF for viewing on your mobile phone or tablet.
Flipboard provides access to hundreds of journals in one location. You can create your own personal magazine from publications you follow, or read magazines of academic interest to you, such as the Harvard Business Review.
This app’s quick access to numerous journals means you do not need to search through individual websites. Flipboard also works well in conjunction with the Pocket app (below), because you can save articles and videos and view them offline later.
With Pocket, you can quickly save any webpage for viewing at your convenience. You do not need an Internet connection or a data plan.
This app has several interesting features. First, you can group your webpages according to topic by creating searchable folders or tags. Also, this app has a Listen function that allows you to listen to the websites you have saved while you are on the go.
These apps will not expand anyone’s 24-hour day. However, they will help you to be more efficient and effective during what little time you do have.
