Tip of the Day: Change Your Attitude and Process to Get Better Results

If you’re having a tough time getting through to a co-worker, or say a weekly process never goes smoothly, do you change your method for handling? Most times the answer is no.

As creatures of habit we tend to cling to the same process, and same attitude towards certain people. So why keep pounding your head on the desk every time something doesn’t go your way? Being stressed about the poor outcome will leave you less motivated and willing to get the task at hand done. Try instead changing yourself to better the situation.

For example, if you and a co-worker usually butt heads over something, instead remove yourself from the situation before responding. If you typically respond through email, try talking to them. Tone can’t be conveyed as well through words, and things can get misconstrued. Make sure to listen to their side as well, you may be missing something. And for those pesky tasks that never seem to end. Take them one at a time, with mini-breaks in between. Make an otherwise tedious process something enjoyable.
