Tip of the Day: White Noise Out the Distractions in Your Everyday Life

If you’re a fan of Peanuts like I am than you remember how Charlie Brown’s teacher always talked; “Wahh, wahh, WAH Wah.” That statement roughly translates into, “blah blah blah.” The trick here is to “blah blah,” or “yadda yadda” (from Seinfeld) out the unneccessary noise in your life.

For example, if you’re at home and your significant other turns on the TV at a high volume, focus instead on your assignment or test. Block out the excess noise by filtering out shouts from the TV, and instead listen to your internal voice as you read off the questions on your assignment. Internal thinking is where you process the information in your mind, instead of writing it on paper or voicing it out loud. If you work on making all the distraction white noise, which it essentially is when you have a lot of deadlines coming up, than you have a shot of getting your work done and doing a great job on the assignment at hand.
