Use Education to Expand Career Goals

Not sure where you want to be in 5 years, how about 10? Just like choosing a major in school, deciding on a career path with the ever-changing career marketplace can be difficult. While it’s not guaranteed to get you a spot in that field, education can open your eyes to new possibilities.

There is a veritable smorgasbord of education options out there for working adults. You can elect to travel to a campus, or attend classes online. Also, check with your employer about programs that reimburse you for learning expenses. If you’re not quite ready to commit to a degree try attending a webcast or podcast to get your feet wet. Most schools offer virtual open houses that will give you a feel for what you’ll experience at their school as a student.

From a resume standpoint, the more you try to personally improve yourself, the better it will appear to potential employers…or your current boss. As the old saying goes, “education starts in the home,” and in this case it’s in the workplace as well.
